Beach Island Vacation...

Our yearly beach trip...aaaaaah, sorry I'm just remembering how relaxingly wonderful it was!

This year was a little different, we started out by flying into Nashville and driving to FL with my sister and her family. ROAD trip!! Complete with tv's, playstation, cell phones and wireless internet to use computers, but also the traditional twizzlers (for my sis!), arguing, naps, stops for boiled peanuts in small North FL towns, eating at Sonny's Real Pit Barbeque (YUM!) and lots of "are we there yet, how much longer" (hour and ten minutes is our dad's response every time no matter how much longer we have!!).

It was also different in that we didn't stay at Cape San Blas. My parents are leasing a house on Dog Island for a year to see how it "fits"! (they LOVE it there!) This is truly being on an island:
no stores, you can only get there by boat, very limited water supply and the water is sulpher water so you bring lots of drinking water along with all the supplies you'll need but they do have electricity and it is simply beautiful, serene and quiet:

A plus of being on an island, you can wear your jammies in the early evening:

While using the flashlight to search for creatures!

Lots of time spent with family! Alex & Uncle Stevie:

PawPaw puts sunscreen on Alex:

(neither of them likes sunscreen AT ALL!!)

Seeing our cute cousin TJ: (Leah's neice Gina's little boy)

Being boat captain:

Being with PawPaw and Connor NONSTOP:

LOTS of wrestling:

MANY hands of Uno:

Cousins:

If Heather wasn't his cousin, Alex might ask her to marry him:

Catching the FRESHEST seafood and eating it within hours:

Yep, we boiled them on the beach in salt water!! YUM!

Connor and Alex loved coloring in their dot-to-dot books:

Alex ate his weight in fried fish and scallops, asked for it every night and most nights had one &/or the other!
Our friends, Paula (aka Pokie), Gracie, and Andrew came out for a night:
Playing on the gulf side in the big waves:
Alex and Gracie:

Logan gave the kids skimboard lessons:

Gracie showed them how girls rock:

Andrew really took to it:
Alex posing with him skimboard:
although he practiced in too deep of water:
Jen, Connor, Gracie and Pokie:

Daddy, Uncle Paul and Jen:

Pokie and Me (yes, I'm under that floppy hat - it wasn't so floppy until Logan and Alex go ahold of it!):

What a great trip, we all hated to leave, but cannot wait to go back next year!!
When we got back to Nashville, we got to celebrate Connor's 13th birthday with him:

Connor wanted some new waterguns for his birthday so Alex and I got him some cool ones:

Trying out the new water guns was awesome:

They had a cooler full of water balloons in the fort made for a great water balloon fight:

We heard the ice cream man, but he didn't come down our road, so we chased him down:

Connor wanted to go to Nashville Shores for his birthday. What a cool waterpark:

Alex and Aunt Jen havin fun:

The waterpark wore him out:

The whole trip must have worn Alex out, he fell asleep on the plane before we even took off and slept the whole flight!
We had such a great time, we loved being with our family and friends!!!
