Renaissance Festival...

Sunday after church, we headed to Shakopee for the Renaissance Festival. It was fun, interesting and the day was gorgeous:

We stopped to look at the glass blowers:

There were lots of people dressed up (everyone that worked there and many of the festival-goers), but I think this guy was at the wrong festival:

Alex was DELIGHTED to see a real storm trooper!

The nice man at the sword shop let Alex hold this cool spear:

We went to look at the animals, this chicken was watching over us:

Definitely the momma hen!

Alex was so funny, he kept saying, "he's gonna charge us, let's get out of here":

There were three pigs in the pen, but this one reminded us of our Daisy- layin in the sun sleeping away, not disturbed in the least by the goings-ons around her:

We got good seats for the joust (the highlight of our trip!) and the leader came over to our section to invite some of the kids to join in! Alex was the 1st to volunteer!!
He got to hobby horse race:

Next the kids led the jousting procession - Alex got to carry a jousting stick:

The procession got the best seats in the house, in the royalty box with the queen!

The joust began:

After the joust, we walked around to take in all the sights - we came across this lady wearing a snake:

The man at the bow & arrow shop gave Alex a demonstration and he let him try it out:

Alex has decided that next year, he wants to get a bow & arrow! (on a different note, last night he semi-woke up and came out in the living room telling me to "get the arrows", but he right back to bed!)

Alex took his allowance with him so he could buy a shield:

Andy bought him a sword, so he had a complete knight's outfit! In the parking lot, we were walking behind a family and their little boy also bought a sword & shield and being little boys, he and Alex sparred! They were very cute!!
Such a wonderful day, we all had a great time!
